Hazelnut trees have been widely grown throughout Europe since the end of the ice age and hazelnuts were part of our ancestors’ diet. To make hazelnut oil, we select the very highest quality nuts as do chocolate manufacturers.

The typical flavour of a hazelnut varies enormously according to the location, the soil and micro-climate, in the same way that the flavour of wine varies from vintage to vintage. Bio Planète offers both a virgin hazelnut oil and a toasted hazelnut oil from the first pressing.

The virgin oil is milder and ideal for cooking, the roasted oil is stronger and lends itself perfectly to baking.

Gourmet Tip

When preparing cold dishes hazelnut oil harmonises superbly with good quality wine vinegar and sherry vinegar. Use it on your ’crudités’, for fine dessert creations, for crêpes or blinis, fish, meat and cooked vegetables. Even one spoonful of hazelnut oil will give your dishes a full aroma and a delicious smell.

Health Tip

Cold-pressed hazelnut oil is easily digested, thanks to its high proportion of monounsaturated fatty acids. It has a high oleic acid content and contains many enzymes, trace elements and B vitamins.
